A philosopher once said, "Body is an instrument of the Self". Body is the material entity while the Self is the conscious entity experiencing the material world. Nobody has ever seen the Self but its presence is felt somewhere inside, somewhere behind our own eyes. You see others as material beings while you see yourself through an entirely different perspective. When you look inside you see the Self & not always your material body.
Google is an American multinational company founded in 1998
by Larry Page & Sergey Brin. It became popular with the concept of Page rank
which determines a website relevancy. Bing is owned & operated by Microsoft
& launched in mid of year 2009.
We are going to tell you what are the uses & how you
being a website owner can see what’s the difference between both the search
engines & their webmaster tools.
1.
Market Share
Google’s market share is around 64% while that of Bing is
21%. Which means Market share of Google is 200% more than what Bing has right
now (year 2017). For every 3 queries which Google gets, Bing gets only 1. If
you are trying to show yourself to people then you would prefer one having more
queries so that possibility of you appearing more in search results is 3 times
higher. Right? But let’s not just end this discussion here there are more
aspects to it.
2.
Background
Google started as a search engine & was truly made to
show best possible results whenever a query is entered. Later, it bought many
other companies like Android, Picasa, Adscape, Youtube & many more and
expanded itself from just being a search engine. Now, you have any internet
related service like mail, blogging, video sharing, domains, cloud services,
etc. present on Google can be easily accessed just by logging into your Gmail
account. The benefit of which is having one key for all the locks. Easy to
manage, easy to use & highly secure.
Bing was launched by Microsoft which was officially
established in 1975, founded by Paul Allen & Bill Gates. It entered into
the business of Operating System in 1980 & became famous for their Windows
Operating System initially released in 1985. Microsoft own several other
businesses, it develops, manufactures, licenses, supports & sells computer
software, consumer electronics, personal computer & other services.
Now, Google has entered into OS business through Chrome OS
& Bing is trying to take away Google’s share through Bing. But still we
love searching on Google through our Windows PC. Lol.
3.
Strategy
Microsoft is trying to promote through the Windows phone
& pc users. Users can easily search any query by clicking the search button
which automatically search at the Bing. Due to which Bing suddenly rose from
12% to 20% & consumed a lot of Google’s market share. Also, Microsoft
instead of promoting its Windows phone is trying to create a new device which
can change how we use phones & devices right now. If they succeed it may
drive a lot of users from Google to bing.
Google’s android has become very people & every new app
is present on Google Play App Store. Android users just love it unlike windows
phone users who hardly get any new app or update instantly. Reason? Because
Windows Phone market share is hardly 1% & no body is interested in making
app & wasting money for developing apps for Windows Phone. Also, Google’s Chrome OS which uses Chrome
browser for searching will make sure that user stays with Google.
4.
Query Results
Google being present on the internet almost 10 years before
Bing shows around 10 or sometimes 100 times more number of results as compared
to what you will see if you type the same query at being. Well this might be
good for users as they say “Old is Gold” but not for website owners. Website
owners want to reach at the top & they want only their site shows at first
not the one which is 15 to 20 years old. This might be helpful because first,
not many people apply SEO techniques or try to list higher on search engine
& second, Bing is rising so you can grab the opportunity of getting a
higher Page Rank at bing.
5.
Geo Targeting
Both Bing & Google allows you to target any country you
want. But usually a good domain name is not available at Top Level Domains (.com,
.org, .net) so people chose to buy a Country Coded Top Level Domain (generic
TLD’s like .business, .ceo, .me, etc. are also available these days). But
Google does not allow you to Geo target any ccTLD (country coded Top Level
Domain) names to some other country, while Bing allows you to target the
subdomain, Directory or Page to different locations. This is quite helping.
6.
Speed
Though there is not much difference between Google &
Bing finding the query results but I have seen that when it comes to indexing
pages or a site, Google performs much better. Google indexes your site in a few
hours and indexes pages sometimes in a few minutes (when you use Fetch as
Google Tool) while Bing takes 2 3 days to do the same task. Therefore, Google’s
instant processing of fetching and indexing pages feels quite good.
Finally, I would end up saying that while Google is already
a giant, one should never underestimate the power of new (Bing) & one
should use both Bing & Google’s webmaster tools because the main goal is
the get the maximum number of viewers to the site.
